About KURO

Recently transplanted to the American Southwest from Seattle, Brian Balmert has parlayed a lifelong passion for Asian antiques, modern design, mid-century pottery, and handcrafted objects into KURO, an online boutique influenced by Japanese aesthetics, Scandinavian modernism, and design-led craft.

KURO is the most recent of Brian's retail adventures, which began with Wrinkled Bohemia, a vintage design shop located in Seattle's Capitol Hill district. Brian then co-founded Urbanease, a contemporary home furnishings showroom in downtown Seattle. His last retail establishment was Ornamo, a home furniture boutique in Seattle’s historic Pioneer Square that featured handcrafted design.  

KURO Sales, Shipping and Consignment

  • KURO accepts the following forms of payment during secure check-out:

    • Visa credit and debit

    • MasterCard credit and debit

    • American Express

    • Apple Pay

    PayPal is not accepted.

    For payment using personal check, Venmo, or Zelle, please contact us.

  • The cost of shipping is included in the purchase price for items shipped within the continental United States. For shipments overseas or to Alaska and Hawaii, please contact us for an estimate.

    We ship using either UPS or FedEx ground service. Expedited delivery is available for an additional charge. All shipped items are packaged with recycled packaging materials when available and insured for the purchase amount.

  • All items are sold “as is.” KURO does not accept returns.

    Please examine the KURO website photos carefully to verify the condition of items that you plan to purchase.

    Please contact us if you need additional photographs or information.

  • KURO accepts consignment of select items. Please send images of items you’d like us to consider to Kuroobjects@gmail.com.

    If your items are accepted for consignment, we will agree upon a sale price before listing them on the KURO website.

    Consignment terms are 50/50. The posted sale price will include an additional fee to cover shipping.

    The consignment period is six months with extensions made at KURO’s discretion. Payment for consigned items will be made within two weeks of the sale date.

    You will be responsible for delivering consigned items to our office and arranging for the return of unsold items.
